The Bible says that one plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. So when you’ve done your part of faithfully sharing the gospel, you can be confident that God will do His. Someone once said that “When you stop speaking, the Holy Spirit doesn’t.”
You might not see the visible fruit of your labors, but don’t get discouraged. Success in evangelism is faithful sharing the biblical gospel. We always leave the result up to God. We don’t save anyone–God does!
Sometimes you might also get discouraged if you find that you don’t know the answers to as many questions as you thought you did. At other times, you might not share the gospel in the way you wish you had done it. That’s OK. Evangelism is much like learning to ride a bike. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. So keep practicing.
Countless stories have been told of people who were saved after hearing the gospel from a faithful Christian whom they never saw again. So don’t get discouraged.
Paul concluded 1 Corinthians 15 by saying:
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
You have God’s promise that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. So be encouraged!
